The procedure
PRP therapy harnesses the rejuvenating power of concentrated platelets from your own blood to stimulate hair regrowth. PRP is also a well established and successful treatment method in orthopedics, plastic surgery, and sports medicine.
Our focus on PRP hair restoration in a clinic setting helps us to provide a safe and comfortable solution for men experiencing hair loss.
How it works
Human blood contains plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
Platelet rich plasma (or PRP), is a concentrated serum of platelets.
Although they are known for their coagulating properties (to stop bleeding), platelets also release growth factors that recruit reparative cells and revitalize and heal tissues. In other words, platelets are components of the blood that help to rejuvenate and heal soft tissue throughout the body. For this reason, PRP injections have a long history of success in treating sports injuries, arthritis, tendinitis, and other painful conditions.
When PRP is injected into the skin, the injection causes minor inflammation that activates the platelets and allows them to do what they do best: generate growth.
Platelets do this by releasing healing proteins called growth factors.
When concentrated platelets are injected their impact is greatly magnified, (which is what happens during the PRP treatment), boosting natural processes and rejuvenating and restoring your hair.
Features include:
- Safe, non-invasive and non-surgical treatment
- Minimal pain or discomfort
- Minimal side effects
In cosmetic medicine, PRP injections are used to treat specific areas of the skin to promote collagen growth and regenerate tissue. In hair restoration therapy, PRP results have been very promising and offer an effective method to promote hair regrowth and thickening for a majority of patients.

Benefits Of PRP Injections For Hair Rejuvenation
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) stimulates cell growth in the injected area. PRP aids the hair growth process, without the use of chemicals or foreign substances.
PRP does not cause allergic reactions or infections, because the injected platelet rich plasma comes from the patient’s own body.
PRP hair treatment benefits include:
- Hair regrowth
- Improved hair texture and thickness
- Increase in hair volume
- Healthier looking hair
The treatment has proven to be most effective for patients who are at the initial and middle stages of hair loss, versus those who are completely bald. Therefore, if you are noticing an overall loss of volume in your hair, are starting to develop a receding hairline, or have noticed bald spots on your scalp, contact us today.

Calgary PRP Therapy For Hair FAQ
Our treatment is quick and you will spend an hour in the clinic. This includes time for collection and processing of your blood to concentrate the platelets to create the PRP solution.
While your PRP solution is being processed, you will be getting the anesthetic regional nerve blocks. They take seconds to become effective, after which we will use the automated PRP injector to deliver the PRP virtually painlessly into your scalp. You will have an opportunity after your treatment to review the after care instructions with your clinician should you desire to do so.
Ideal candidates for treatment are men with fine or thinning hair – either in patches, or generalized throughout the scalp.
Patients who have been completely bald for years may not experience significant benefits from PRP hair loss treatment.
Procedure details
01 - Initial Blood Draw
Your appointment will begin with a simple blood draw, just like a routine blood test. Then, using a proprietary technique, platelets and plasma will be separated and concentrated into a serum that will be ready to be injected into the scalp.
We will then take a picture of the treated area to serve as a baseline to follow the hair restoration.
02 - PRP Application
PRP injections are virtually painless and have few contraindications. The procedure lasts approximately 40 minutes. However, overall appointment duration will be a little over an hour for blood drawing and processing, as well as anaesthetic application.
Our technicians use a state-of-the-art automated injector that delivers the PRP to the scalp with precision and at the proper depth – which is 3 – 4 mm. Injections are administered with accuracy and consistency by the automated injector, minimizing human error.
